The title of my talk is “The Tyranny Of The To-Do List”. In it, I’ll talk about the way in which we think and talk about time shapes the way we live it; look (briefly!) at the stories the Jewish and Christian calendars tell us about God, our world, and ourselves; and offer some practical, simple ways to “revolt” against the tyranny of our own to-do lists.
Michelle is the author of four books, including Moments & Days: How Our Holy Celebrations Shape Our Faith (NavPress 2016). She was a regular contributor at Christianity Today’s Her.meneutics blog, and maintains her own blog, Pilgrim’s Road Trip, on the Patheos.com Evangelical channel. She’s been a church communications director, served on staff at Trinity International University, done communications consulting for several faith-based non-profits, and studied at Northern Seminary. She’s been married to Bill for 37 years, and is mother to three and grandmother to two. You can find her full bio and a list of her writing credits at MichelleVanLoon.com.
