For Our Sins

The Atonement is incomprehensible if Christ is not our substitute.  All that the Cross accomplishes is made possible by Christ standing in the place of ruined sinners.  While there is much that can be said about the Cross (indeed, must be said) the center is the substitutionary death of Jesus.  It is the reason he said he came, and it is unmistakably where the Scriptural story was leading all along.
