The Servant of the Lord

The Servant of the Lord

Passage: Isaiah 53:1-12

This Advent we’ve been exploring how the ancient poets and prophets of Israel spoke of the one called Messiah.  We’ve seen how Messiah is a figure from unexpected yet kingly origins who 1) puts God’s Kingdom on display, 2) restores God’s people to himself, and 3) draws in the nations to the worship of the true God.  But up until this point there has been very little said about exactly how Messiah would accomplish this.  The answer we are given is startling, and would have been even disturbing to the original readers, but to those with the eyes to see it is good news of great joy.

Due to unforeseen technical difficulties, the sermon recording during the service is not available. Mike, However, re-recorded the message in a podcast style for listening.
