The Sixth Word
February 13, 2022 | Mike Stancak
The command against murder is a command against all human contempt. Long before a murder takes place, a person has been "unpersoned." But human value, in the perspective of Scripture, is absolute. No human being has the prerogative to determine another's value because all people are bearers of God's image. Life and death, properly speaking, lie with him. But in murder we have humans taking God's place. Scripture calls Christians to love life, to love it individually, and to seek its protection institutionally.

Jesus Is Alive
CityAlight
There is now a hope that lasts beyond our days
For the one that once was buried lives again
Now the tomb is bare and empty and the stone is rolled away
Praise the Risen one who overcame the grave
All you broken hearted, all you worn and weak
Come find living water, everlasting streams
To the wandering spirit, lost and searching wanting something more
Find the risen king who overcomes the world
Let there be dancing in the darkness
And let our song break through the night
Lift your voice and sing that Christ is King
For Jesus is Alive
No more condemnation, no more doubt and fear
For our sin and shame they have no power here
In his resurrection, perfect love has set the captives free
Praise the risen king who stands in victory
Hallelujah, death is undone, Hallelujah, Jesus has won
Hallelujah, we overcome, Oh in Jesus, Oh in Jesus
Hallelujah, death is undone, Hallelujah, Jesus has won
Hallelujah, we overcome, Oh in Jesus, Oh in Jesus
Hallelujah, death is undone, Hallelujah, Jesus has won
Hallelujah, The kingdom has come, Oh in Jesus, Oh in Jesus

Deuteronomy 6:4-9
CONFESSION OF SIN
Mike will lead us in a time of quiet confession.
CONFESSION OF FAITH (Apostle’s Creed)
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
born of the virgin Mary.
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father
He is coming again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who is in heaven,
Hallowed be your Name
Your kingdom come, your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
Forever and ever
Amen
The Lion & The Lamb
Leeland
He's coming on the clouds, kings and kingdoms will bow down
And every chain will break as broken hearts declare His praise
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Our God is the Lion the Lion of Judah
He's roaring in power and fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before Him
Our God is the Lamb the Lamb that was slain
For the sins of the world His blood breaks the chains
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
Every knee will bow before Him
So open up the gates make way before the King of Kings
The God who comes to save is here to set the captives free
For who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord Almighty
Who can stop the Lord
O Praise the Name (Anástasis)
Hillsong Worship
I cast my mind to Calvary
Where Jesus bled and died for me
I see His wounds, His hands, His feet
My Saviour on that cursed tree
His body bound and drenched in tears
They laid Him down in Joseph's tomb
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
Messiah still and all alone
O praise the Name of the Lord our God
O praise His Name forevermore
For endless days, we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God
Then on the third, at break of dawn
The Son of heaven rose again
O trampled death, where is your sting
The angels roar for Christ the King
He shall return in robes of white
The blazing sun shall pierce the night
And I will rise among the saints
My gaze transfixed on Jesus' face

SERMON
Is He Worthy
Andrew Peterson
Do you feel the world is broken? (We do)
Do you feel the shadows deepen? (We do)
But do you know that all the dark
Won't stop the light from getting through? (We do)
Do you wish that you could see it all made new? (We do)
Is all creation groaning? (It is)
Is a new creation coming? (It is)
Is the glory of the Lord to be the light within our midst? (It is)
Is it good that we remind ourselves of this? (It is)
Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah, who conquered the grave
He is David's Root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave
Is he wor - thy? Is he wor - thy?
Of all blessing and honor and glo - ry?
Is he wor - thy of this? (He is)
Does the Father truly love us? (He does)
Does the Spirit move among us? (He does)
And does Jesus our Messiah hold forever those he loves? (He does)
Does our God intend to dwell again with us? (He does)
Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah, who conquered the grave
He is David's Root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave
From every people and tribe, every nation and tongue
He has made us a kingdom and priests to God to reign with his Son
Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory?
Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Is He worthy of this?
He is! He is! He is! He is!
He is wor - thy, He is wor - thy
Of all blessing and honor and glo - ry
He is worthy of this He is
COMMUNION
Vast As The Ocean
Traditional Hymn
Here is love, vast as the ocean,
loving-kindness as the flood,
when the Prince of Life, our Ransom,
shed for us His precious blood.
Who His love will not remember?
Who can cease to sing His praise?
He can never be forgotten
throughout heav'n's e - ternal days.
On the mount of cruci - fixion
fountains opened deep and wide;
through the floodgates of God's mercy
flowed a vast and gracious tide.
Grace and love, like mighty rivers,
poured in - cessant from a - bove,
and heav'n's peace and perfect justice
kissed a guilty world in love.
In Thy truth Thou dost direct me
by Thy Spirit through Thy Word;
and Thy grace my need is meeting
as I trust in Thee, my Lord.
Of Thy fullness Thou art pouring
Thy great love and pow'r on me
Of Thy fullness Thou art pouring
Thy great love and pow'r on me
without measure, full and boundless,
drawing out my heart to Thee.
