Series: Prayers of Salvation

Magnificat

Passage: Luke 1:46-55

This Sunday we begin a new series on the prayers of Luke's Nativity story.  Redemption comes to the world and is welcomed by a humble group of witnesses: a quiet, simple carpenter, his virgin wife-to-be, an aging priest and his barren wife, poor shepherds, a pious old man in the temple.  One age gives way to another before their eyes, and they meet it with prayer, spoken as poetry.  This week we see the song of Mary, praising the justice and goodness of God in reversing the fortunes of the needy through his Messiah.
