The Eighth Day

April 20, 2025 | Mike Stancak

Passage: Romans 8:18-25

The Resurrection is not just the return of Christ from the dead.  It is the beginning of a new creation.  Just as all Creation came through the Word who is Christ, in the same way the new creation must be brought about through Christ.  The Resurrection marks the beginning of a new week of creation, at the end of which all things will be made new.  For this reason the early church often referred to Easter Sunday not just as the first day of a new seven day sequence, but as a new thing, a new marker in time: the eighth day.
