Passage: Isaiah

Just as Israel once found herself awaiting Christ, we do the same.  In the days of Isaiah, Israel had been compromised by injustice, indifference to the poor, and the glib presumption that surely God will not judge, as though they had made a secret agreement with death, that they would not be touched (Isa. 28:15).  But God promised that he would return to his people, and that he would bring his kingdom with him.  This is good news, but we cannot afford to make peace with sin.  Awaiting Christ means keeping a tender conscience, and living by the fear of the Lord.
