Passage: Isaiah

Isaiah is shown a vision of the Lord enthroned in glory, and he responds with despair, being both unclean himself and of a people who are unclean.  His is the despair of coming to see sin in the light of God's holiness.  But his despair leads to cleansing, and to a calling: he will be part of God's plan to show Israel her sin, even though she will not repent the way Isaiah did.  Instead, judgment will purge God's people, leaving behind a remnant who will repent in and through the "seed," the offspring promised to Eve long ago.
