Can These Bones Live?

On the road to Emmaus, Jesus claimed not only that a general resurrection was necessary; he claimed that Messiah's resurrection was necessary.  In Christ, Israel's identity is bundled into one man who then walks through the story of life from death.  Christ's resurrection is the fulfillment of shadows seen throughout Israel's history: in the blessing to Abraham, in the sacrifice of Isaac, in the national death of exile.  The testimony of the Scriptures has been, all along, that God is the one who brings life from death.
