This week our country learned of an unimaginable atrocity: the shooting at Uvalde, Texas. What hope is there to cling to when grief is so unimaginable and the fact of death so overwhelming? It is the same hope that Peter preached to the diaspora Jews at Pentecost: Christ alive. Christ brings in the reign of life and plants his church as a colony of heaven, testifying to indestructible life in a world of death. He will return, he will judge, and he will set his life as the principle of all Creation.
