Series: Home: A Series on the Christian Family
Family Matters
August 01, 2021 | Mike Stancak
Passage: Genesis 1:26-2:3
This week we begin a series on the Christian family. In our time, we have to take time not only to define family, but to explain why it matters as something other than a life enhancement. What is family in the economy of God? This week we arrive at the Christian home, but only to appreciate the facade; next week we open the door and start exploring the interior room by room.

CALL TO WORSHIP
Ephesians 3:14-19
CONFESSION (Book of Common Prayer 2019)
Almighty and most merciful Father,
we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
We have followed too much the devices and desires
of our own hearts.
We have offended against your holy laws.
We have left undone those things which we ought to have done,
and we have done those things which we ought not
to have done;
and apart from your grace, there is no health in us.
O Lord, have mercy upon us.
Spare all those who confess their faults.
Restore all those who are penitent, according to your promises
declared to all people in Christ Jesus our Lord.
And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake,
that we may now live a godly, righteous, and sober life,
to the glory of your holy Name. Amen.
CONFESSION OF FAITH
Leader: Declare with me the mystery of our faith
Congregation:
Christ has died
Christ is risen
Christ is coming again
All The Poor & Powerless
All Sons & Daughters
All the poor and powerless
And all the lost and lonely
And all the thieves will come confess
And know that You are holy
And know that You are holy
And all will sing out hallelujah
And we will cry out hallelujah
All the hearts who are content
And all who feel unworthy
And all who hurt with nothing left
Will know that You are holy
Shout it
Go on and scream it from the mountains
Go on and tell it to the masses that He is God
Come Ye Sinners
Vertical Worship
Come ye sinners poor and needy
Weak and wounded sick and sore
Jesus ready stands to save you
With compassion love and pow'r
Come ye thirsty to the fountain
Come and find His goodness here
True belief and true repentance
Ev'ry grace that brings you near
I will arise and go to Jesus
He will embrace me as His own
And in the arms of my Savior
There is life forevermore
Come ye weary heavy laden
Lost and ruined by the fall
And if You wait until you're better
You will never come at all
There's no one else for me no one else for me
I won't look back I won't look back
Let not conscience make you linger
Not of fitness fondly dream
All the fitness He requires
Is to feel your need of Him
I have de - cided to follow Jesus
I have de - cided to follow Jesus
I have de - cided to follow Je - sus
No turning back no turning back

COMMUNION
How Deep the Father’s Love For Us
Traditional Hymn
How deep the Father's love for us
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory
Behold the Man upon a cross
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished
I will not boast in anything
No gifts no pow’r no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom
Hallelujah What A Savior
Traditional Hymn
Man of Sorrows, what a name
for the Son of God who came
Ruined sinners to reclaim
Hallelujah what a Savior
Bearing shame and scoffing rude
In my place condemned He stood
He sealed my pardon with His blood
Hallelujah what a Savior
Guilty, vile and helpless me,
spotless Lamb of God was He
Full atonement can it be,
Hallelujah what a Savior
Lifted up was He to die,
It is finished was His cry
Now in heaven exalted high,
Hallelujah what a Savior
When He comes, our Glorious King
all His ransomed home to bring
Then anew this song well sing,
Hallelujah what a Savior

Worthy of Your Name
Sean Curran & Passion
Rumors of the Son of Man
Stories of a Savior
Holiness with human hands
Treasure for the traitor
No ear had heard no eye had seen
the image of the Father
Until heaven came to live with me
A rescue like no other
You are worthy
You are worthy of Your name!
You are worthy
You are worthy of Your name!
Jesus
You did not speak You made no sound
You died for Your accusers
And as Your blood fell to the ground
You redefined my future
On the day that You arose the darkness ran for cover
For the King of kings has claimed His throne
From now until forever!
You’re my author, my maker
My ransom my Savior
My refuge my hiding place
You’re my helper my healer my blessed Redeemer
My answer my saving grace
You’re my hope in the shadows
my strength in the battle
My anchor for all my days
And You stand by my side
You stood in my place
Jesus no other name
Only Jesus no other name
