Series: Grace Upon Grace
Grace Upon Grace
December 24, 2020 | Mike Stancak
After a year of this kind, Christmas can feel out of place. How do we enter into a season of joy when the year has been so hard? Christmas can seem like an intrusion from another world. And in many ways, it is. Christmas is an interruption of grace into a world that has none to generate of its own. Christmas is the visitation of God into the world he made, bringing with him news of a better kingdom to come. And so let men their songs employ! There is joy for the world!
If viewing at home, have a candle you can light nearby for our candlelighting at the end of the service!

ADVENT READING
O ANTIPHONS READING
O Wisdom, coming forth from the mouth of the Most High, reaching from one end to the other mightily, and sweetly ordering all things: Come and teach us the way of prudence.
O Lord, and leader of the House of Israel, who appeared to Moses in the fire of the burning bush and gave him the law on Sinai: Come and redeem us with an outstretched arm
O Root of Jesse, standing as a sign among the peoples; before you kings will shut their mouths, to you the nations will make their prayer: Come and deliver us, and delay no longer
O Key of David and sceptre of the House of Israel; you open and no one can shut; you shut and no one can open: Come and lead the prisoners from the prison house, those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death
O Dayspring, splendour of light eternal and sun of righteousness: Come and enlighten those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death.
O King of the nations, and their desire, the cornerstone making both one. Come and save the human race, which you fashioned from clay
O Emmanuel, our king and our lawgiver, the hope of the nations and their Saviour: Come and save us, O Lord our God

O Holy Night
Verse 1
O holy night, the stars are brightly shining;
It is the night of the dear Savior's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till he appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope, the weary soul rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Chorus 1
Fall on your knees,
Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine,
O night when Christ was born!
O night, O holy night, O night divine!
Verse 2
Led by the light of faith serenely beaming
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand
Led by light of a star sweetly gleaming
Will come the wise men from Orient land
The King of kings lay thus in lowly manger
In all our trials born to be our Friend

He knows our need
To our weakness is no stranger
Behold your King
Before Him lowly bend
Behold your King
Before Him lowly bend
