Wisdom in Suffering

Wisdom in Suffering

September 10, 2017 | Dan McIntosh

Passage: Job 1:1-42:17

As Houston suffers through what will undoubtedly be a long and painful recovery from hurricane Harvey, the people of Florida are preparing for the worst, as another destructive storm, Irma, approaches. Suffering and hardship will surely follow. At any given time around the world, people suffer incredible hardship, pain, and loss. War in Yemen, Isis in Iraq, monsoons in India. The book of Job is perhaps the oldest book in the Bible and it addresses one of life’s oldest and most difficult questions: “Why suffering?”  This Sunday at Trinity we will seek to understand the purpose of suffering for the people of God and glean from the book of Job the wisdom necessary to respond rightly when we suffer.
