Series: The Great Commandment

Heart, Soul, Mind, Strength

Passage: Deut. 6:4-9

The Shema describes a love for God that rallies all of one's heart, soul, mind, and strength.  This is a gift of the self to God with nothing left in reserve, and we are right to understand that this command is more than a friendly suggestion.  This is what God is owed: a total gift of the self from every human creature.  This is the gift we each have failed to offer, and it is the gift by which Christ saves us; we will offer ourselves in Christ's offer of himself.
