Passage: Daniel 3:1-30
In Daniel 3, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego are faced with the decision to obey God and risk certain death or to bend to culture and disobey God. While we may not be called to bow down to a 90ft tall statue of gold, we are constantly faced with decisions similar to the three in this story and are called to bow to the metaphorical statues in our lives, or stand firm in obedience to God.
Series Information

Christian political thought is a balancing act between competing allegiances. On the one hand, the state is owed our allegiance as an authority anointed by God for a certain purpose. On the other hand, our allegiance to the state is subservient to our allegiance to God. We render to Caesar what is Caesar's, but never from what we owe to God.
