Hold Fast to Enter God’s Rest

January 24, 2021 | Tyler Carrera

Passage: Hebrews 3:1-4:13

Whether it stems from persecution or personal sin, we may, at times, feel tempted to stray away from the Gospel. In the Old Testament, we see first-hand the dire consequences of abandoning God. Instead of making the same mistakes, let’s learn from those who have come before us so that through perseverance, me might enter God’s rest.

God Is For Us

Verse 1

We won't fear the battle, we won't fear the night

We will walk the valley with You by our side

You will go before us, You will lead the way

We have found a refuge, only You can save

Chorus

Sing with joy now our God is for us

The Father's love is a strong and mighty fortress

Raise your voice now, no love is greater

Who can stand against us if our God is for us

Verse 2

Even when I stumble, even when I fall

Even when I turn back, still Your love is sure

You will not abandon, You will not forsake

You will cheer me onward with never-ending grace

Bridge

Neither height nor depth can separate us

Hell and death will not defeat us

He who gave His son to free us

Holds me in His love

A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

Traditional Hymn w/ Added Chorus

Verse 1

A mighty fortress is our God A bulwark never failing

Our helper He amid the flood Of mortal ills prevailing

For still our ancient foe Doth seek to work us woe

His craft and power are great and armed with cruel hate

On earth is not his equal

Verse 2

Did we in our own strength confide our striving would be losing

Were not the right Man on our side the Man of God's own choosing

Dost ask who that may be Christ Jesus it is He

The Lord Of Hosts His name From age to age the same

And He must win the battle

Chorus

A mighty fortress, A rock unfailing

The King of glory Forever Amen

For endless ages, enthroned in praises

The King of glory Forever Amen

Verse 3

And tho' this world with devils filled Should threaten to undo us

We will not fear for God hath willed His truth to triumph thru us

The prince of darkness grim We tremble not for him

His rage we can endure for lo his doom is sure

One little word shall fell him

Verse 4

That word above all earthly pow'rs No thanks to them abideth

The Spirit and the gifts are ours Thru Him who with us sideth

Let goods and kindred go This mortal life also

The body they may kill God's truth abideth still

His kingdom is forever
