Pay Attention, Don't Drift
January 10, 2021 | Michael Uyeda
Passage: Hebrews 1:1-2:4
In our microwave culture, we tend to undervalue and neglect those things of lasting importance. But Jesus Christ and His Gospel of grace teach us to live in a different way. Do you treasure Christ supremely and cherish the salvation you have in Him? Join us this Sunday as we begin our new sermon series in the book of Hebrews, which is all about our lasting covenant with God and how it call us to live in response to God.

WELCOME
CALL TO WORSHIP
Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.
The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness;
you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness.
Therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness beyond your companions
Psalm 45:6-7
Leader: Trinity Community Church, lift up your hearts this morning.
Congregation: Our hearts are lifted up to the Lord
CONFESSION OF FAITH
Colossians 1:15-23
Leader: Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by[f] him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
Congregation:
And we, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present us holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed we continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that we heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven.
Leader: Let’s worship the Lord in song together.
Jesus Is Better
by Austin Stone Worship
Verse 1
There is no other so sure and steady
My hope is held in Your hand
When castles crumble and breath is fleeting
Upon this rock I will stand
upon this rock I will stand
Chorus
Glory Glory we have no other King
But Jesus Lord of All
We raise the anthem, our loudest praises ring
We crown Him Lord of All
Verse 2
Your kindly rule has shattered and broken
The curse of sin’s tyranny
My life is hidden 'neath Heaven's shadow
Your crimson flood covers me
Your crimson flood covers me
Bridge
In all my sorrows Jesus is better
make my heart believe
In every victory Jesus is better
make my heart believe
Than any comfort Jesus is better
make my heart believe
More than all riches Jesus is better
make my heart believe
Our souls declaring Jesus is better
make my heart believe
And our song eternal Jesus is better
make my heart believe
Jesus Paid It All
Verse 1
I hear the Savior say,
thy strength indeed is small
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in me thine all in all
Verse 2
Lord, now indeed I find
thy power and thine alone
Can change the leper's spots
and melt the heart of stone
Chorus
Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow
Verse 3
And when before the throne
I stand in him complete
Jesus died my soul to save
my lips shall still repeat
Bridge
O praise the one who paid my debt
and raised this life up from the dead
O praise the one who paid my debt
and raised this life up from the dead

Broken Vessels (Amazing Grace)
By Hillsong Worship
Verse 1
All these pieces broken and scattered
In mercy gathered Mended and whole
Empty handed but not forsaken
I've been set free I've been set free
Pre-Chorus
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
Oh I once was lost but now I am found
Was blind but now I see
Chorus
Oh I can see You now
Oh I can see the love in Your eyes
Laying Yourself down
Raising up the broken to life
Verse 2
You take our failure You take our weakness
You set Your treasure in jars of clay
So take this heart Lord I'll be Your vessel
The world to see Your life in me
LORD’S SUPPER
Worthy of Your Name
By Passion
Verse 1
Rumors of the Son of Man
Stories of a Savior
Holiness with human hands
Treasure for the traitor
No ear had heard no eye had seen
the image of the Father
Until heaven came to live with me
A rescue like no other
Chorus
You are worthy
You are worthy of Your name!
You are worthy
You are worthy of Your name!
Jesus
Verse 2
You did not speak You made no sound
You died for Your accusers
And as Your blood fell to the ground
You redefined my future
On the day that You arose
the darkness ran for cover
For the King of kings has claimed His throne
From now until forever!
Bridge

And You stand by my side
You stood in my place
Jesus no other name
Only Jesus no other name
