God the Father

Series: The Nicene Creed

God the Father

August 03, 2025 | Mike Stancak

Passage: Deuteronomy 6:4-6

The first clause of the Nicene Creed confesses our faith in God, who is one, who is Father and who is Almighty.  None of these properties had been taken for granted in ancient cultures, which were full of gods, none of whom were entirely almighty, and many of whom may have been fathers, but not in the way Christians mean it.  Entailed in these three words (one, Father, Almighty) is the vision of a transcendent God who is revealed in Christ, and stands mighty to save.
