Series: Exodus: The God Who Is
The God We Love
October 25, 2020 | Mike Stancak
Passage: Exodus 20:18-24
This week we continue in exploring the laws of Exodus. In our culture we compartmentalize God from the broader society and government. In other words, godliness is not legislated. And while in doing this we protect American pluralism, we too often allow the secularism of our government to inform how we live our lives. God is compartmentalized in society, and so he becomes privatized in our lives. We do this at our own risk. The laws God gave to Israel instructed them to love the Lord their God, because God's law is holistic. He instructed Israel in the way of true goodness, and true goodness will never be without true worship. In our day, a man may be law-abiding, but that does not make him holy. If we want to embody the true way of the Lord, we will not only love others, but we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
