The God who Calls Us to Remember

Series: Exodus: The God Who Is

The God who Calls Us to Remember

September 13, 2020 | Mike Stancak

Passage: Exodus 12:21-28

We are nearing the moment in Exodus when God leads his people out from bondage, but before the climactic moment we are given a strange interruption: God gives his people a ritual.  The Passover meal must be practiced for generations to come, and with every passing year this feast will rehearse God's great act of redemption.  Before salvation can come about, the people must be prepared for how they will remember it.  The same God who gave the Israelites Passover is the God who calls us to remember the way in which he brings salvation to the world.

Verse 1

There is no other so sure and steady

My hope is held in Your hand

When castles crumble and breath is fleeting

Upon this rock I will stand

Upon this rock I will stand

Chorus

Glory Glory we have no other King

But Jesus Lord of All

We raise the anthem, our loudest praises ring

We crown Him Lord of All

Verse 2

Your kindly rule has shattered and broken

The curse of sin’s tyranny

My life is hidden ‘neath Heaven’s shadow

Your crimson flood covers me

Your crimson flood covers me

Bridge

In all my sorrows Jesus is better
make my heart believe

In every victory Jesus is better
make my heart believe

Than any comfort Jesus is better
make my heart believe

More than all riches Jesus is better
make my heart believe

Our souls declaring Jesus is better
make my heart believe

Our song eternal Jesus is better
make my heart believe

Hallelujah the Lamb of God

My shame upon Your shoulders

The power of sin undone

The cross for my salvation

For Your new covenant

Chorus 1

Hallelujah

I'll live my life in remembrance

Your promise I won't forget

I'll walk salvation's road

With fear and trembling

Your way borne as my own

As Christ is formed in me

If ever I should lose my way

If ever I deny Your grace

Remind me of the price you paid

Hallelujah

I'll live in remembrance

Oh to think where I would be

If not for You if not for You

As far as heights reach from the depths

As far as east is from the west

So far Your grace has carried me

Until I see You face to face

Until at last I've won my race

Remind me You're not finished yet
