The God Who Is

The God Who Is

Passage: Exodus 3:1-15

At the burning bush, Moses encounters something that has immediate importance to us all.  He encounters God.  There are many cultures and peoples who have reasoned their way up to the necessity for a God, but here at the burning bush we have so much more than that.  We have the revelation of God.  The Creator of the universe makes himself known to Moses, not just as a distant deity peering down at the world, but as the nurturing redeemer who involves himself in the world he loves.  It is one of the most pivotal passages in all of the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures.  Can't wait to delve into it with you all

CONFESSION

Everett will lead us in a moment of silent reflection and confession.

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS IN CHRIST

Hebrews 1:3-4

CONFESSION OF FAITH (Nicene Creed)

We believe in one God,

   the Father almighty,

   maker of heaven and earth,

of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ,

   the only Son of God,

begotten from the Father before all ages,

        God from God,

        Light from Light,

        true God from true God,

   begotten, not made;

of the same essence as the Father.

Through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation

        he came down from heaven;

he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,

        and was made human.

        He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;

        he suffered and was buried.

The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures.

        He ascended to heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again with glory

to judge the living and the dead.

        His kingdom will never end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit,

the Lord, the giver of life.

He proceeds from the Father and the Son,

and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.

   He spoke through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.

We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,

and to life in the world to come. Amen.

The Lion & the Lamb
by Leeland

Verse 1

He's coming on the clouds, kings and kingdoms will bow down

And every chain will break, as broken hearts declare His praise

Who can stop the Lord Almighty?

Chorus

Our God is the Lion, the Lion of Judah

He's roaring with power and fighting our battles

And every knee will bow before You

Our God is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain

For the sin of the world, His blood breaks the chains

And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb

Oh every knee will bow before Him

Verse 2

So open up the gates, make way before the King of kings

Our God who calls the saved is here to set the captives free

Who can stop the Lord Almighty?

Bridge

Who can stop the Lord Almighty?

Who can stop the Lord Almighty?

Who can stop the Lord Almighty?

Who can stop the Lord Almighty?

Be Enthroned
by The Worship Initiative

Verse1

We've come to join the song sung long before our lives

To raise our voice along, Heaven and earth alike

We've seen Your faithful hand, Your mercy without end

A King who bled and died, A God who sacrificed

Chorus

Be enthroned upon the praises of a thousand generations

You are worthy. Lord of all

Unto You, the slain and risen King we lift our voices with heaven

Singing worthy, Lord of all

Verse 2

All through this life we lead and onto eternity

Our endless praise, we'll cry

Jesus be glorified

Bridge

Highest praises, Lord of All

Highest praises, Lord of All

Highest praises, Lord of All

SERMON

LORD’S SUPPER

Worthy of Your Name
by Sean Curran & Passion

Verse 1

Rumors of the Son of Man

Stories of a Saviour

Holiness with human hands

Treasure for the traitor

No ear had heard, no eye had seen

The Image of the Father

Until heaven came to live with me

A rescue like no other

Chorus

You are worthy

You are worthy of Your Name

You are worthy

You are worthy of Your Name, Jesus

Verse 2

You did not speak, You made no sound, You died for Your accusers

As Your blood fell to the ground You redefined my future

On the day when You arose, the darkness ran for cover

For the King of kings has claimed His throne now until forever

Bridge

You're my author, my maker

My ransom, my Saviour

My refuge, my hiding place

You're my helper, my healer

My blessed redeemer

My answer, my saving grace

You're my hope, in the shadows

My strength, in the battle

My anchor, for all my days

And You stand, by my side

And You stood, in my place

Jesus, no other name

Only Jesus, no other name

Great Are You Lord
by All Sons & Daughters

Verse 1

You give life, You are love, You bring light to the darkness

You give hope, You restore every heart that is broken

Great are You, Lord

Chorus

It’s Your breath in our lungs

So we pour out our praise, we pour out our praise

It’s Your breath in our lungs

So we pour out our praise to You only

Bridge

And all the earth will shout Your praise

Our hearts will cry, these bones will sing

Great are You, Lord

DOXOLOGY

Praise God from whom all blessings flow

Praise Him all creatures here below

Praise him above ye heavenly hosts

Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
