The Beginning of his Reign

We come now to the end of the seven trumpets.  As before, God is revealed with thunder and lightning, the signs of Mount Sinai, and now the sign of the ark of the covenant appears in heaven.  The passage describes the inbreaking of God's Kingdom, which will come to pass both with judgment and with reward.  God has indeed begun to reign through Christ, and whatever the appearances in the meantime, the kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and Christ.
