The View from the Throne Room

Passage: The Revelation to John Revelation 4:1-11

With the letters to the churches now ended, John is summoned up to the throne room of heaven to see “what must take place after this.” There he witnesses the worship of God, worship taken up by angels and by saints. The Lord‘s purpose in showing John his throne room lies not just in showing him the view of it, but the view through it. The story of Revelations is a story of reality clarified through the lens of worship, through the vision of God‘s power and redemption serenely working themselves out in all things.
